What About Johannesburg

Johannesburg is the biggest city in South Africa (RSA). Its population exceeds 4mln people. Johannesburg is one of 40 largest urban agglomerations in the world.
It was founded in 1886 when an Australian called George Harrison discovered gold deposits. The city got its name from the names of the officials land-surveyors who participated in the foundation of the future metropolis.
It is peculiar that no one thought at first that Johannesburg area would be the richest in gold deposits in the world. Only a small plot of land has been allocated for the development of the city. That is the reason why the central business district of Johannesburg has narrow streets. This peculiar feature of Johannesburg is worth visiting.
Within 10 years after its foundation Johannesburg has become the largest city in South Africa.

  • 73% of Johannesburg population is black
  • 16% are whites
  • 6% are colored
  •
Lion park is very popular in Johannesburg. Not only you can watch the animals but also play with the cubs. Its best to visit the park during the week as it becomes very crowded over the weekend.
